An epic showdown will take place this weekend as British League’s top two teams lock horns in a mouthwatering contest at the top of the table.
Urban TTC and Ormesby will clash in a pulsating top of the table encounter on Saturday (3 PM ko) in what is undoubtedly the biggest game of the season so far.
After six rounds, the two teams can hardly be split. Having amassed the same number of sets over the six rounds, the two teams can only be separated on games ratio – and Ormesby hold a 0.06 advantage!
But there will be an outright leader come Saturday evening, with the two teams battling it out over five crucial sets.
Ormesby travel to Barnet with a five-man squad. Ormesby captain Danny Reed is listed along with fellow Englishman Helshan Weerasinghe and Darius Knight. They’re joined by Tainyuan Liu and Portuguese ace Tianming Zhao.
Urban TTC have also named a five-man squad. Daniel Schaffer, Alim Hirji, Satoshi Aida, Szilard Gyorgy and Daniel Kosiba are in contention and will be aided by the guidance of their coach, Gergely Urban.
“Ormesby has a great team with lots of champions so we expect this match to be a great battle,” he said.
The winner will head into the league split as the league leaders, with the second set of fixtures to commence in April.
Elsewhere, there’s a battle at the bottom end of the table as Cardiff and North Ayrshire compete. Cardiff slumped to the bottom of the table following their defeat to Fusion last time out but could climb as high as fifth if they register a victory. North Ayrshire will be motivated by the fact victory would see them leapfrog BATTS, who don’t play this weekend.
The other game will see Drumchapel look to cut the gap between themselves and the chasing pack when they take on Fusion, who will be buoyed by their thrashing of Cardiff.
