Two victories for Tin-Tin Ho led England to a 3-1 victory in their European Championships Team Stage 1 match away to Greece last night.

The trio of Ho, Maria Tsaptsinos and Denise Payet were on duty in the first match since Kelly Sibley announced her international retirement, and it was Tsaptsinos who led off.

The 20-year-old was up against Greek No 1 Aikaterini Toliou, ranked No 154 in the world, and it went to a decider before Toliou came through 3-2 (7-11, 11-8, 11-4, 6-11, 11-9) to give her country the lead.

However, the rest of the Greek team are ranked substantially lower, and Ho was able to level the match with a routine 3-0 (11-3, 11-9, 11-7) victory over Georgia Zavitsanou, ranked at 538, before Denise Payet came from a game down to defeat world No 407 Maria Christoforaki 3-1 (6-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-8).

It was left to Ho to seal the overall triumphwhen she played Toliou, clinching it in three straight (11-6, 11-6, 11-7). It was a second victory for England women in the competition, having beaten Norway at home in their first match, also by a 3-1 scoreline.
