Tin-Tin Ho is off to Shanghai for the World Junior Championships

Tin-Tin Ho and her Russian partner Sadi Ismailov have gone out of the mixed doubles at the World Junior Championships.

They were beaten in the last 32 by Nandor Ecseki of Hungary and Romania’s Bernadett Balint despite twice coming from a set down to level the tie.

The final score in Shanghai was 3-2 (11-7, 7-11, 15-13, 6-11, 11-7) in favour of their opponents.

Earlier, the pair made it through in three straight against Michel Lignandzi of Congo and Alimot Ayinla of Nigeria in the qualifying round.

They were pushed all the way in the first game before taking it 14-12 and then pulled away to complete a 3-0 (14-12, 11-5, 11-1) victory.

In the last 64, they beat Korea’s Minhyeok Kim and Yujin Lee 3-1. After shading a close first game 15-13, they saw their opponents level by taking the second 11-9. The hard-fought nature of the match continued as the thid went 12-10 in favour of Ho and Ismailov, and they took the fourth 11-5 to seal victory.

The singles event begins tomorrow.
