Tin-Tin Ho was defeated by world No 76 Sarah De Nutte of Luxembourg in the third qualifying round of the WTT Contender event in Doha today.

The England No 1 was looking to qualify for the main draw at her first WTT event but fell in four sets to an athlete ranked 17 places above her. De Nutte will face world No 57 Cheng Hsien-Tzu of Chinese Taipei in the fourth and final qualifying round.

Ho’s defeat leaves Liam Pitchford – seeded straight into the main draw – as the sole English representative left in the singles. He will start in the last 32 against Andreas Levenko of Austria, who defeated Paul Drinkhall in qualifying.

Pitchford & Paul Drinkhall are in the men’s doubles and will start in the last 16 against Iranian pair Nima Alamian & Noshad Alamiyan.
