Tin-Tin Ho was beaten by the cadet world number 2, Mima Ito (JPN) at the quarter-final stage in Guam as her World Cadet Challenge singles bid ended.

Having comfortably beaten Diane Jiang (USA) 4-1 in their last 16 match, Tin-Tin then had to face the world number 2 for a second time after meeting her in the team final, where the Japanese player was victorious.

Once again she proved too good for the young English hopeful although all of the four game scores were close with Tin-Tin never far behind her opponent.

If she was disappointed with that defeat, then she made up for it with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over her European colleague and doubles partner, Andreea Clapa (ROU) in the 5-8 place play-off. Her final singles match will see the 14-year-old play Soo Wai Yam Minnie (HKG) for fifth place.

Alongside Clapa she then advanced to the semi-finals of the doubles tournament where they will have to face the unstoppable pair of He Zhoujia (CHN) and Mima Ito (JPN).
