The deadline for nominating your unsung heroes for a Pride of Table Tennis Award is approaching – so if you know a volunteer who deserves further recognition, now is the time to put their name forward!

We are looking for nominations in no fewer than 11 categories as we seek to honour those who are committed to improving participation and performance at every level of our sport. The closing date for nominations is 5pm on Friday September 21.

So, who can you nominate? It could be the coach who breaks down barriers of inclusivity, the official who positively impacts on people’s lives through table tennis or the person your club or league simply could not function without. And it is not just individuals who can be nominated – we have categories for Club of the Year and League of the Year too.

One of the headline awards is the Contribution to Table Tennis Award, which was won last season by Brenda Bailey. She has been a volunteer official for Macclesfield Table Tennis Association for more than 50 years and her dedicated service saw her named winner for both the North West region and also at national level.

If you know a super-volunteer like Brenda, there are three stages of awards to honour them in – local, regional and national. Clubs and Leagues can award their own local Volunteer of the Year, who will then be put forward for a regional or national award in the most appropriate category.

Regional categories are Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, Contribution to Table Tennis, Coach of the Year and Club of the Year. Winners will be selected by a regional judging panel and receive a trophy and certificate. They will also be put forward to the national judging panel.

At a national level, the categories include all those in the regional awards, plus Inclusivity Award, Technical Official of the Year, Ping! Personality of the Year, Partner of the Year, Inspirational Stories of the Year and League of the Year. The national awards will be presented at our awards ceremony in March 2019.
