The idea of “Pink Pong” came along due to a fellow table tennis player being diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  It has taken Plymouth Table Tennis community by surprise and therefore Liz May and Beth Wilson wanted to try and do something to help in the fight and battle of this horrible disease.

“Pink Pong” was launched at Okehampton Table Tennis Club on Saturday 11th September 2010 and raised £568 for Cancer Research.  A special thanks has to go to the club who provided the venue free of charge as well as all the coaches, volunteers and players that made the day such a success.  The venue has already been booked next year to make the charity event part of the local table tennis annual calendar.

“Pink Pong” is hopeful to travel the UK with different table tennis events throughout the year including Andover on Friday 22nd October.  Hannah Hicks (England International) will be at this event to do a demonstration with her Thorntons Table Tennis teammate, Liz May.  The girls along with Rachel Hicks (Andover event co-ordinator) hope to continue flying the flag for “Pink Pong” and  raise monies and awareness of breast cancer.
