The 2018/19 Staffordshire Schools Team Championships where a great success, run and hosted by Clayton Hall Academy over three Mondays.

The Championships where supported by the following districts in the county: Stone and Stafford, Stoke, Moorlands, Newcastle Under Lyme and Burton. There is still lack of uptake from the remaining districts and this is something I would like to see improve over the coming years.

The U19 Boys’ event was won by John Taylor High School who beat St Joseph’s College in a straight final. I would love to see more sixth forms and college teams enter this age group in the coming years.

The U16 Boys’ event was won by St Joseph’s College, who in the final played Clayton Hall Academy – winning the verdict on individual points after a draw in games and sets was declared.

The U13 Boys’ event was won by John Taylor High School, who went unbeaten all day and beat St Edward’s Middle School in their final. The U13 Girls’ event was won by St Dominic’s Priory School.

The U11 Girls’ event was very popular this year and again St Dominic’s Priory came out on top unbeaten in their round-robin team event.

In the boys’ event Newcastle Under Lyme Junior School also remained unbeaten in their round-robin team event.

We wish all teams progressing to the Zone Regional Finals in January 2019 the best of luck in representing the County and their schools.

In February the Individual Championships will be taking place and anyone wanting information for the event please contact the County Schools TT Secretary Mr Rhodes on [email protected]
