Sports C took advantage of a two man Bucks CC A team in The Aylesbury and District Table Tennis League, Premier Division and obtained their first win of the season. Motivator, Simon Gray, won the first game coming back from two sets down to beat Tim Wooster in 5 sets. Elsewhere Jason Tustain joined Chris Hawkes and Jon Abungan for Haddenham B in holding Bierton to a draw, for whom Alan Cherry took a good maximum. Bellingdon strengthened their survival hopes with a 6 – 4 defeat of Sports B. Lee Rogerson was unbeaten for Bellingdon.
Both Tring and Ridgeway recorded 8 – 2 victories in Division One this week against Haddenham D and Bucks CC B respectively. Colin Sturges and Les Ferguy took maximums for Tring with John Richardson winning twice. Kevin Doyle was unstoppable for Ridgeway, well supported by Jeff Amor and Brian Redrup with two wins in a close match despite the score line. Nick Tyler won twice for Bucks with Graham Butcher taking Jeff and Brian to 5 sets.
In Div 2 Rivets moved into top position despite losing to lowly Bucks CC F. A Kevin Rees injury early in the match restricted the leaders whilst Gerry Saunders secured 2 vital wins for the underdogs. Tring B moved into third place with a 6-4 win over Risborough A. Roger Shelton inflicted a rare defeat on Matt Axford.
Brill moved clear of Bucks CC G at the top of Division Three thanks to a 8 – 2 win at Tring F for whom young Charlie Elliot notched a notable 2 wins. Thanks to unbeaten Vic Davies Bucks CC G defeated Quainton C 7-3. Tring E remain in third place winning 6 – 4 at Risborough B despite Dave Stevens maximum. Sankar Balan pushed Dave to the limit losing only narrowly in five sets.
