Hundreds of young players have their sights set on the Butterfly National School Team Championship Finals as they compete at the Regional Finals this weekend.
Around 100 school teams will compete across four events in Blackburn, Bristol and Grantham, having battled through the Zone finals to reach this stage.
They will compete across four age groups – U11, U13, U16 and U19 – for both boys and girls, with a place in the National Finals at WV Active Wolverhampton on April 3 at stake.
There was no tournament last year because of the pandemic, but there are a few champions from 2020 who will be targeting a repeat.
Both under-11 teams which triumphed in 2020 are still in the competition this year – St Edward’s Catholic Primary from Westminster in the boys and Fox Primary from Kensington & Chelsea in the girls.
In addition, the 2020 under-13 and under-16 champions are still involved having stepped up an age group – Ackworth School from Pontefract are now in the under-19s and Addey and Stanhope from Lewisham are in the under-16s.
