Luke Savill beat a player from the top 80 in the world to reach the last 32 of the Swedish Youth Open.

The Maidstone youngster defeated Italy’s Luca Bressan – ranked at No 79 on the world Under-18 list – in seven games in Orebro.

That set up a clash against 15th seed Simon Soderlund of the host nation but Savill, ranked No 151, was unable to get the better of his opponent, who is No 44 on the world list.

Savill, 16, reached the same stage of the doubles, alongside partner Maciej Kolodziejczyk of Poland.

In the Mini-Cadet Singles, Louis Price won one of his three group matches to go into in the Consolation Singles, where he lost to a Swedish opponent.
