Commonwealth Games medallist Danny Reed has been appointed as the Athlete Selection Adviser to Table Tennis England.
The position has been created to ensure athletes have a better understanding of and greater confidence in the selection process for major events.
It will allow them to have an input into the development selection policies without any fear of reprisals and ensure confidence in the integrity of the selection process.
Reed will review and provide feedback on selection policies for events including Commonwealth Games, Worlds Championships, European Championships and World Tour events for both team and individual competitions and different age groups.
The double Glasgow 2014 medallist will also liaise confidentially with athletes and attend or contribute to selection meetings.
Table Tennis England Director of Sport Simon Mills said: “We’re delighted Danny has agreed to take on this role. Having been part of the England set-up for a number of years, he has first-hand knowledge and experience of international events and of selection and appeals procedures and has no conflict of interest.
“It is of paramount importance that the selection process has integrity and is held in high regard by the athletes, and this appointment will help to ensure that.”
