MERSEYSEYSIDE POLICE TABLE TENNIS CLUB

The conclusion of the 2013-14 season in the Liverpool and District Table Tennis League (LDTTL) proved to be a very successful result for the Merseyside Police Table Tennis Club.  The club entered 6 teams in the LDTTL at the start of the season with 2 teams in Division One and one team in each of Divisions two, three, four and five.  Throughout the season the ‘A’ team was fighting to be the winner of Division One but eventually finished as runner –up.  The ‘B’ team also finished as runner-up in Division two and was promoted.  The ‘E’ team, in Division five, were winners of the divisional Stamp Cup.

The Police Club entered a number of players in the Liverpool League Closed Championships and had a very successful result.

Jonathan Taylor (Police ‘A’) was the winner of the Open competition beating Keith Williams in the final.

Joe Howard (Police ‘B’) was the winner of the Division 2 Cup and Harry Watson (Police ‘C’) was the winner of the Division three Cup.  The Police didn’t enter a player into the Division four competition but Stefan Schober-Thompson from Police ‘E’ was the winner of the Division Five competition.

The World Corporate Games were held in Liverpool during week commencing 23rd June 2014.  The Police Club entered four players into the Table Tennis Competition and after a successful competition it finished with three medals:

Men’s Singles – Open Competition –Bronze medal – Jonathan Taylor
Men’s Doubles – Open Competition – Bronze Medal -Jonathan Taylor/Jonathon Dyson
Men’s Doubles – Over 50’ss – Bronze Medal – Brian Burrows/Tony Dixon
Men’s Singles – Over 50’s – 4th Place – Brian Burrows

A very satisfactory conclusion to a successful season.
