England’s No. 1 Liam Pitchford could become one of the first players to be televised live on Eurosport after the sports broadcaster and the International Table Tennis Federation agreed a deal for coverage of the ITTF GAC Group 2014 World Tour.

The agreement, delivered by TMS International – the ITTF’s Marketing Partner, will mean that six World Tour events, the World Tour Grand Finals and the ZEN-NOH 2014 World Team Championships will all be streamed on one of Europe’s premier sports channels.

The first event to be broadcast is this weekend’s Kuwait Open before world no. 55 Pitchford takes part in the second televised event next week (February 21-23rd) in Qatar.

The World Tour Super Series event will be broadcast from the quarter-final stage, which could include the Englishman who begins as the 31st seed in Doha.

On top of the potential televised exposure, the Derbyshire 20-year-old can benefit from the Qatar Open’s considerable prize package with a total pot of $500,000 on offer. Just for reaching the first round (which he is guaranteed as a seed), Pitchford can expect to return $1,500 from the trip.

You can keep up to date with Liam’s progress on twitter or on the ITTF’s live stream service itTV before Eurosport coverage begins on Saturday February 22nd.
