Liam Pitchford has hit another career high in the world rankings, jumping eight places to No 23 in the latest ITTF list.

Paul Drinkhall and Sam Walker have also moved up, while Maria Tsaptsinos is at a career high of No 219 on the women’s list and Tin-Tin Ho has equalled her top ranking of 95.

The rankings include performances at the European Championships, where Pitchford reached the last 16 before losing to top seed and eventual champion Timo Boll of Germany.

His position of 23 is higher than the career best marks of both Alan Cooke (27) and Matthew Syed (25) and one place behind the highest achieved by Nick Jarvis.

Drinkhall is up two places to No 78, while Walker climbs 10 places to No 89. Ho is up five places, while Tsaptsinos is a big riser, up 72 places from 291 to 219 having picked up some good victories at the Europeans.
