Liam Pitchford went out in the last 16 of the China Open to world No 4 Tomokazu Harimoto today.

The English No 1 had comfortably beaten the Japanese teenager twice last year but today was a different story as Harimoto kept control.

All four games were close but Harimoto was in charge at the business end of all of them as he won 4-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-8, 11-8). He now faces Wong Chun Ting of Hong Kong in the quarter-finals in Shenzhen.
