PPP usually stands for Ping Pong Parlour but on August 19, in Liverpool, it stood for Ping Pong Pontoon.
In conjunction with the Liverpool City Council Physical Activity and Sports Development Department, Royal Albert Dock Events Team and the Liverpool Table Tennis League, a day of table tennis was held on a floating pontoon in the Royal Albert Dock.
The pontoon table tennis day was held as part of a ‘Wellbeing Week’ when various sports used the pontoon to encourage the public to take part in a sport.
Tom Purcell, organising secretary of the League, said: “It was great to see so many people taking part in table tennis from all ages and abilities. 171 people played on the day; 95 children, 40 women and 36 men took part, with the ‘robot’ being the most popular activity.
“Approximately 15 balls ended up in the dock but we didn’t have to go for a swim to recover them!
“It was a great event surrounded by the historical buildings in the Royal Albert Dock.”
