Paul Drinkhall is through to the India Open quarter-finals – where he will face the host nation’s No 1 player.

Drinkhall, seeded sixth, today looked sharp in defeating Germany’s Ruwen Filus 4-1, making a fast start and showing patience when required in a tactically astute performance.

He will face 11th seed and world No 59 Sharath Kamal Achanta, who overcame Japan’s fourth seed Yuto Muramatsu in five.
