Players who believe they could be part of the British Para Table Tennis set-up will have the chance to find out more at two upcoming Grand Prix events.
BPTT Pathway Manager Shaun Marples will be attending the Nottingham Grand Prix on Sunday May 6 and the Blackpool event on Sunday May 20.
It is part of the BPTT’s recruitment programme for talented athletes, recognising that there may be athletes who are currently playing in able-bodied competition who have an impairment which would make them eligible to be involved with the BPTT – and potentially go on to compete at future Paralympic Games.
They could follow the journey of Josh Stacey, who has participated in his first two International tournaments after being confirmed as a class 9 athlete, winning a bronze medal in Belgium and the USA. He is now ranked No 13 in the world in his class.
For more information on the initiative or to have a conversation with Shaun before these dates, please contact him via 07944 776751 or [email protected] or write to BPTT, EIS Sheffield, Coleridge Road, Sheffield, S9 5DA.
Entries are now open for both the Nottingham Grand Prix (May 5-6) and Blackpool (May 19-20) as well as the Burgess Hill Satellite Grand Prix on May 26-27.
