Table Tennis England Vice-President and former Administrative Secretary Roy Stevens has died at the age of 86.

Hastings-born, Roy joined the ETTA in 1978, having previously worked as a sales representative for Huntley & Palmers and as manager of Lloyd’s Bank in Cooden Beach, East Sussex.

He was with the Association for more than 20 years up to the early part of this century and, among his positions, he was Secretary to the National Council.

He was also Secretary to the Tournaments Committee, the Calendar Working Party and the Selection and Disciplinary committees, and handled the weekly accounts.

Former ETTA and Table Tennis England Executive Assistant Rob Sinclair said: “Roy was full of life and well known for his flamboyant ties. He did his various jobs exceptionally well and was a very popular guy in table tennis circles.”

Roy played for NALGO in the Hastings League. His funeral is at 2pm on Friday June 1st at Hastings Crematorium.
