Eric Day, the father of former England international player Paul Day, has passed away aged 83 on Friday 9th March. Eric was also a former National Councillor for Cambridge.

In the early days of the British League, Eric and his wife Winnie hosted home premier division matches for the Soham team at the table tennis facility he had erected for Paul in their grounds.  He was a well respected and successful farmer and business man, who, as President of the Society of Ploughmen  had twice provided a  prime site of 250 acres his land at East Fen Farm, Soham available for the British Ploughing Championships.
