Joe Clark is presented with one of his two trophies by Cleveland County TT Chair, Colin Davison

Joe Clark was a local hero at the annual Two Star Open Tournament at Billingham’s Northfield School on Sunday.

In a record entry including many of the best young players from the North of England and Scotland, Clark starred on the day, winning both Cadet and Junior boys’ singles.

He started by winning the Cadets, beating Scotland’s Keir Morton 3-0 in the final, before putting in the performance of the day in the Juniors, first defeating No 2 seed Billy Forster in the semi-final and then beating No 1 seed Josh Harland 3-0 in a thrilling final.

It was double success for another Billingham player too in the girls’ events, with Sophie Barlow winning the Cadet final 3-0 against Holly Williams before defeating her sister Katie Barlow 3-0 in the Junior final.
