Tin-Tin Ho was knocked out at the first hurdle of the singles at the Japan Open, though she and partner Ma Wenting did reach the main draw of the doubles.

The English No 1 was defeated in four straight by world-ranked 419 Kim Hayeong of South Korea in the second preliminary round, having had a bye in the first.

Alongside Norway’s Wenting, they defeated a pair from Singapore in the preliminary round before exiting to seventh seeds Barbora Balazova & Hanna Matelova in the last 16.
