New dates have been set for Hana Bank 2020 World Team Table Tennis Championships – they will now be held in Busan, South Korea, between February 28 and March 7, 2021.

The International Table Tennsi Federation (ITTF) confirmed the dates at its latest meeting to consider the effects of the global coronavirus pandemic.

The championships were originally due to have been played from March 22-29 this year, while subsequent back-up dates of June 21-28 September 27 to October 4 have also been postponed.

The ITTF also said that, due to decreasing probability of international events being staged according to the original 2020 calendar, it will attempt to stage “bubble” or regionally-based events during the remainder of 2020, working around ever-changing international travel restrictions.

The federation will go ahead with holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28, but in an online format.
