The Commonwealth Championships are over for England after Tin-Tin Ho & Maria Tsaptsinos lost their women’s doubles quarter-final.
The pair were defeated 3-1 by Singapore’s Kai Xin Pearlyn Koh & Hemg Hwee Yee in Surat, following the elimination of the six remaining players from the singles earlier.
And it was India who were the primary thorn in England’s collective side, with five of those six being beaten by players from the host nation.
Ho made it the furthest, reaching the quarter-finals before her run was ended by world No 166 Manika Batra in five games.
Helshan Weerasinghe came closest to an upset against world No 155 Harmeet Desai, the Kent youngster, ranked No 460, taking his opponent to 16-14 in the deciding seventh of their last-16 clash.
David McBeath reached the same stage, going down in six to world No 212 Amalraj Anthony, while Alex Ramsden was defeated in the previous round by Marios Yiangou of Cyprus.
Karina Le Fevre and Maria Tsaptsinos were eliminated in the last 16 by sisters Ankita Das (No 202) and Mouma Das (No 189) respectively.
