Kelly Sibley and RunTeamFlo have smashed through the £26,000 fundraising barrier!
The England No 1 and seven team-mates completed the Great Birmingham Run half-marathon on Sunday, raising money for Cancer Research UK.
It was the second year the team had completed the race, inspired by Kelly’s five-year-old niece Flo, who was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was three.
The team ran in orange tutus – the colour of ribbons used to raise awareness of the illness.
“I’m really sore, but it was a great day,” said Kelly. “Everybody got round and it didn’t rain, so happy days!
“A few of us ran together in about two-and-a-half hours and we beat the time from last year.
“Flo was there in her tutu and it was emotional crossing the finish line and having Flo there to welcome us back – she was waiting with a big cuddle and that was a reminder about why we were doing it.
“It was quite nice to finish and check my phone and see there were people donating while we were running.
“It was on £25,980 on Monday morning, but some of the runners have got money to add, so we’ve smashed £26,000, which is amazing.”
