Table Tennis England has announced further details of our membership offers designed to help everyone get back playing as the country moves out of restrictions in the coming weeks.

With indoor play for adults from May 17th, there will be opportunities for local leagues and 1* competitions to get up and running before the end of this season.

Therefore, we are announcing details of two major membership offers – one for those members who have not renewed for the current 2020/21 season, and one for those who have. Find out more below and download Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) at the foot of this page.

Offer one: Renew from May 1st until the end of the 2021/22 season at no extra cost

If you have NOT renewed for 2020/21, we are offering the chance to play the rest of this season for free when you buy your 2021/22 membership.

This means that if you renew any time between May 1st and the end of this season on July 31st, your membership will continue through to July 31st, 2022.

Offer two: Get 50% off your membership fee for 2021/22

If you HAVE already renewed your membership for this season (as around 54% of our membership has), then you can apply for a 50% discount when you renew your membership for the 2021/22 season which begins on August 1st.

See below for the details of how to take advantage of these offers.

These offers reflect the widespread disruption to the sport which our members have endured during the 2020/21 season because of the pandemic; the hope that the rest of this season and the 2021/22 season will see a shift back to a much more ‘normal’ sporting landscape; and a recognition that our work as a National Governing Body has continued throughout this time while our income has been substantially lower than budgeted.

Most importantly, we want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to get back to playing at the earliest opportunity, and to thank our members for their continued support.

It has already been announced that there will be no increase in membership fees for the fourth year in a row. Compete membership is £16 for Seniors and £8 for Cadets or Juniors. Compete Plus membership is set at £38 for adults and £19 for Juniors or younger. Club Play continues to be free for 2021/22.

Please note, further to the extension of the Junior age group to under-19, announced last month, those currently in their final year as a Junior will continue in that category for the 2021/22 season.

Any Juniors who wish to enter a competition before May 1st, please contact [email protected] and we will extend your membership to allow you to do this.

Offer one

This offer is for those who have NOT renewed their membership for the 2020/21 season but who were previously members; or for those who have never been a member of Table Tennis England.

If you renew any time between May 1st and July 31st this year, your membership will continue through to July 31st, 2022. In other words, you will be able to play for free for the rest of this season.

From May 1st, you can renew your membership through the TT Memberships (Sport:80) platform in the usual way, choosing your membership type and paying online. Click here to access TT Memberships.

To purchase your membership by telephone, call 01908 208860 and speak to one of our membership team who will assist you through the membership purchase. Lines open at 9am on Tuesday May 4th, after the Bank Holiday weekend.

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected] or check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document below.

Offer two

All those who have already renewed their membership for this season (2020/21) will be offered an optional 50% discount on their basic membership for next season if they wish.

Anyone who is a valid Compete or Compete Plus Senior member for this season will be eligible to request an £8 discount on their membership for 2021/22. The discount would be £4 for Cadets and Juniors.

In order to take up this offer, simply let us know any time between now and when renewals open on July 19th by filling in the short form here.

The discount will be applied to your account and you will receive confirmation when you renew your membership after renewals open on July 19th.

Why is this offer not automatic? Simply because many members have told us they want to give back to the sport and understand that their membership fee is one way to do that. Therefore, we are asking that members request a discount if they would like one.

Please note, those who upgrade from a free membership (Supporter or Club Play) to a paid-for category (Compete or Compete Plus) are not eligible for this offer. Those who wish to remain as free Supporter or Club Play members will need to renew as normal after July 19th.

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected] or check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document below.

How to support our work

While lockdown has put much of daily life on hold, Table Tennis England has still been busy working on behalf of our members and the wider sport.

Click here to find out more about how our work has continued during periods of lockdown.

For any members who wish to further support our work, we have added a facility to our membership platform to allow members to make a donation – they will be able to pay an additional amount of their choosing for the 2021/22 season.

This is entirely voluntary but we want to offer the opportunity because we have received requests to do so and many members tell us they value our work and wish to support it further.

Full details of how to do this will be released in the next few weeks.

Any additional income we receive from any of these initiatives will help us to invest more in grassroots table tennis.

These initiatives are not about propping up our bank balance and the intention is to support a variety of schemes which put money back into the clubs, leagues and volunteer network which is the bedrock of our sport and which the majority of our members are involved in.

Click here to read more about how your membership fees underpin our sport and see the graphic below for details of how we spend the income we received from membership fees.

This has been a difficult period for people all over the world and table tennis has not been immune to the effects of the pandemic. But, with the help of our members, we are determined to ensure that our sport and the people who play, compete and volunteer in it, can bounce back and grow stronger.
