A pool of the country’s best players, as well as some fine International stars, will be making their way to London next weekend in the hope of clinching a slice of the £17,265 prize fund. As is always tradition at the season ending Grand Prix, the overall prize money will be distributed amongst the top five players in each event category. In total 286 players will be competing at the Jean Brown Arena on the Redbridge Sports & Leisure site. Leading the Men’s field will be Welshman Ryan Jenkins. He knows a strong performance should be enough to see him to the overall title. Hot on his heels, however, is English youngster Tom Jarvis. The Junior National Champion has had a terrific time on this season’s circuit and will go in search of title number four.

A group of Hungarian and French players, part of a training camp being hosted by Urban Table Tennis Club, will also be in attendance. Be aware of the talents of Loic Bobillier (2), Fatah Ourahmoune (5), Atilla Koszo (6) and Gergo Timafalvi (9). The field also includes Gavin Rumgay and Darius Knight seeded at three and four respectively. Champion last time out in Blackpool and the 2014/15 overall Grand Prix champion, Chris Doran, is seeded at eight, showing just how strong the competition will be.

The Women’s competition is headed up by another Hungarian attending the Urban TTC training camp, Melinda Ciurcui. She leads the way from Maria Tsaptsinos, Arina Dora Singeorzan (Romania), Edina Toth (Hungary) and then defending overall champion, Karina LeFevre, at five.

Leading the way on the overall Women’s circuit is five times Senior National Champion Kelly Sibley. Not far behind in second place is Charlotte Carey of Wales. With neither player entered in London, LeFevre has a real chance of closing the gap and making second place. It appears as though first place may be too far out of reach.
