LEICESTERSHIRE TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION

There was no mercy for their Knighton Park clubmates when Park Keepers scaled new heights in Group B of the Leicester League’s Elbow Tankard and they won 18-2.  George McClurkin, who came back into table tennis after seeing an outdoor table in Humberstone Gate last year in the Ping! demonstration, won all six singles, Patrick Cox took four and three doubles, while Ashley Palmer completed the picture with five out of six.

But this Group still has to be won as Abbots, with yet another 11-9 victory, this time over Electricity, can still top it when they meet Park Keepers in the final match.  Vishal Parmar won four singles for Abbots but it was four from four in the doubles from Derek Noon that proved decisive against the Sparks.  In their previous meeting Abbots beat Park Keepers 11-9 and a repeat would send them through to the semi finals, although the losers, whoever it is, should get through as best runners up from the three groups.

Desford Try Hards had mixed results, beating Blaby and Whetstone 13-7 thanks to 5/6 from Mike Pratt and 3/4 from Luke Blair but then they lost 15-5 to Villagers who clinched this Group.  For the winners both Kevin Herbert and Martin Taylor won five from six while two from four by Phil Tomlin who also won three doubles proved enough.

Park Strollers were on the shoulders of Parsons near the top of Group C and needed to beat Park and Ride to maintain the challenge.  Park and Ride had other ideas and won their second on the trot with Jamie Mullineaux in tremendous form as he powered to six singles victories and his two doubles, a flawless performance.  Jack Mooney won three for the winners while Steve Bessant did the same for the losers.

Five out of six by Chris Weston did the trick for Nomadics who beat Electricity 14-6 in Group B while Dave Croucher won all four of his doubles.
