The Leicestershire County Schools Individual Championships attracted 171 entries over eight events at two venues – Leicester Grammar School (18 tables) and Knighton Park TTC (8 tables).
There were good entries in almost all events with an overall increase of 25, or 17%, on last year. All the champions will go on to represent Leicestershire at the ESTTA National Individual Championships in April at Wolverhampton.
The Boys’ U19 event was won by Aman Rashid (Wigston College) in three games, beating Max Huggins (Wigston College), while the Boys’ U16s saw Jack Rogers (Lancaster) defeat Adnan Ebrahim (Leicester Grammar School) in a high-quality three-game final.
At Boys’ U13 level, Jinious Sheth (Manor) beat Shivan Arora (Leicester Grammar School) in four, while Edward Brown (Burbage) gained the Boys’ U11 title in three with Oscar Bentley (Overdale) runner-up.
The Girls’ U11 champion was Alana Richardson (Burbage), defeating Libby Finlayson (Swinford), with Ella Parmar-Saville (Manor) gaining the Girls’ U13 title over Chloe Edmunds (Newbridge).
At U16 Girls’ level, Kinar Sheth (Manor) was victorious over Sufyaana Begum Dhanji South Charnwood); Kelsey Andrews (Bosworth Academy) clinched the U19 title.

The previous weekend, two Leicestershire teams won the ESTTA Zone stage – Burbage (Boys’ U11) and Manor (Girls’ U16) – and another two were runners-up – Wigston College (Boys’ U19) and St Peters Academy, Market Bosworth (Girls’ U11).
