LEICESTERSHIRE TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION
ROSE JOHNSON BOWL

The final of the Leicestershire County Table Tennis Association’s Rose Johnson Bowl, a four-a-side handicap competition in which every point counts, went right to the wire when Leicester Electricity, receiving a start of 16 over the sixteen games, needed Andy Wright to beat Knighton Park’s Robert Geary 21-6 to force a tie.  Wright tried hard but eventually came up short at 21-10, a valiant effort.

Star of the match, as he has been throughout the competition, was Park’s Aman Rashid who rattled up an impressive score of 84-42, a plus 42 return over his four games, to more than claw back the deficit.

Dave Cox was Electricity’s best man on show, defying his handicap to some extent with a 73-65 scoreline.  The final score was 284-280 in favour of Knighton Park, underlining how close these matches are.  With his team just four points to the good, Rashid beat Cox 21-10 in the penultimate game to put the pressure on.  Details:

Knighton Park: Aman Rashid +42, Robert Geary -15, Patrick Carton +1, Steve Bessant -8.

Electricity: David Bray -34, Dave Cox +8, Andy Wright +6, Dave Silvester level.
