Because of promotion and relegation last season Nomads have three teams in Division Four of the Leicester League, the one consolation being they are at home more often than normal.
Their second team are well established at the top of the chart having just beaten their own third team 8-2. Steve Andrews remains undefeated so far after a maximum while Trevor Hawkins and Chris Weston both won two and this team look very solid. Roger Burley and Nick Fear one apiece for the thirds.
Nomads fourths went down 6-4 to Wigston Conservatives who had Mark Williams in top form with a maximum, while Pete Garford won twice. For Wigston, Andy Burnham took two.
One team that could overhaul the others at the moment when they catch up with fixtures is Regent Sports seconds who defeated Desford 8-2 with both Tim Crawson and Rob Price picking up maximums.
There were one or two postponements in Division One meaning Ajax Wolvey’s sprint to a 10-0 win over Abbots Road seconds helped them to remain in top position. It is usually the case that the promoted sides from the second division struggle somewhat on the top rung but Jon Williams, Aidan Walsh and Mick Allsop have taken to Division One like ducks to water… so far. They still have some strong teams to face.
Maurice Newman is going from strength to strength and is now undefeated in four matches. His latest maximum for Thringstone came against Northwood with Alastair Hawthorne also unbeaten while Phil Jones picked up two. Thringstone are currently second in the chart.
There is never any chance of the people forgetting first names in the Sparks’ fourth team in Division Three as they are all named Dave. Greasley won two in a 5-5 draw against Abbots Road while Cox and Bray took one each. Jay Kotecha took an excellent maximum for Abbots nicely supported by two from Fahed Sacoor.
A quarter way through the season Knighton Park thirds sit atop of Division Two despite no match as they ‘played’ the blank team. The Park’s fifth team went down 6-4 to Newfoundpool seconds despite three from James Morley and the doubles for a consolation point. It was Newfoundpool’s first win with Steve Pratt, Tony Gil and Chandresh Sodha all winning two.
