Done and dusted, that is the Leicester & District League for this season, the only outstanding matches playing wise are the various cup finals in the week coming up before the Presentation Evening and Annual General Meeting next month as another season is prepared for.

The final match in Division One provided some highly unusual results for the season in that Abbots Road who had lost every match thus far, drew 5-5 with the next team higher, Syston Casuals, although only Abbots will go down as there are 11 rather than 12 teams in the division.

Geoff Hancock won three while Fahed Sacoor not only opened his score for the season but made it two victories, both of the players beating Jason Woodfield and Chandresh Sodha who are both graded higher.

Star for Syston was Nick Bishop, graded at 118 and playing up from Division Four, as he won two for his team to go with one apiece for his team-mates. Five of the 10 sets needed a fifth game in a very tight match.

Knighton Park made sure of topping Division Two in great style by defeating Syston Casual’s second team 10-0 with Vishaal Sharda, Oscar Bentley and Brajesh Patel all in uncompromising mood.

KP then finished their season with a 5-5 draw with their own fourth team for whom Osman Bawa cemented his position at the top of the individual averages with three.

In Division Three the final match saw Fleckney, already promoted, visiting Knighton Park VI with club secretary, Jason Prescott, capping an excellent season with a maximum, but in vain as Eddie Kwok, David Mountain and Chris Parmar-Saville all won two for KP as well as the doubles for a 7-3 success.

The final match in Division Five saw the top two teams clash with nothing at stake. Blaby and Whetstone II top the division despite going down 7-3 to Winstanley Wizards III when having only two players did not help.

Tom Phipps won two for Blaby, Alan Willson only one but retained top spot in the averages. Ben Cooke, Ted Eastman and Ian Knight all scored one for the Wizards, the first two winning a close doubles while three defaults completed the picture.

The five players topping the individual averages are:

Div 1: Luke Greenfield (Unicorn II) 87.5%.
Div 2: Osman Bawa (Knighton Park IV) 95.1%.

Div 3: Mike James (Holwell Sports II) 89.2%.
Div 4: Luke Blair (Desford Village III) 85.2%.
Div 5: Alan Willson (Blaby & Whetstone II) 92.0%
