Open house at Keighley Table Tennis Centre

Keighley Table Tennis and Recreation Centre is holding two fun events this Saturday, 19th October. Their Open Day will run from 11.00—14.00 and later on, Race Night will open its doors at 19.00pm.

The Centre, which has been running for five years now in conjunction with Haworth Hawks’ Table Tennis Club, plans to make this year’s events the best yet.

The Open Day is free of charge and open to everyone. Alongside table tennis exhibitions, there’s a chance to enter a ‘Beat the Robot’ competition (a training machine that fires table tennis balls at you) and to browse a whole range of table tennis equipment. There will also be 3D games console demonstrations, and a ‘Come and Try’ art session with a skilled art tutor on hand, where you can enjoy a taster session of painting or drawing. Refreshments will also be available.

The day will give Keighley locals a chance to see the centre and appreciate what’s available there on a year-round basis. Local businesses are also extremely welcome.

Doors will close at 2pm to allow the Centre to get ready for the next event: Race Night, which starts at 7pm with the first race at 7.30pm.

This fun occasion is also open to everyone. Eight jungle animals ‘race’ around a wooden course, their progress decided by random selection on bingo balls. In the hurdle race, animals can fall and be knocked out of the race. The action always entertains and excites the spectators – particularly those who have placed bets! There are six races, ranging from the Keighley Canter to the Haworth Handicap and the race action will be projected on big screens at both ends of the hall so that no-one misses out on the fun. The evening’s entertainment will also include a raffle, with some excellent (and not necessarily table tennis related!) prizes. Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for under 18’s. This includes supper – a delicious meat or veggie curry, or sandwiches.

Both events are being held at Keighley Table Tennis and Recreation Centre, 2nd Floor Keighley Business Centre, South Street, BD21 1SY. For more information or to purchase tickets please contact the centre on 01535 872029 or email [email protected]
