The women’s singles first round saw a host of junior talent making it through to the second round against their more experienced peers.

Tin-Tin Ho, Jessica Dawson and Isobel Ashley all defeated players much older than themselves and will now face the seeded players who enter the tournament later today.

Tin-Tin Ho picked up a great win against Sanja Clements 4-1 (7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5, 11-7) while Dawson won an entertaining game between herself and Sue Collier 4-2 (11-8, 11-13, 8-11, 11-5, 11-1).

Ashley beat surprise group winner Janine Bromley 4-2 (11-9, 11-9, 10-12, 5-11, 11-5) while there were also wins for Natalie Slater, Tressa Armitage, Karen Shepherd and Chloe Whyte.

Milwain also beat Evangeline Collier 4-0 (11-4, 11-2, 11-5, 11-6) impressively and she will now face Karina Le Fevre in the next round.
