England’s Junior Boys reached the knockout stages of the team competition, while James Smith and Ethan Walsh were consolation singles semi-finalists as the Czech Youth Open came to an end in Hodonin.

Tom Jarvis, Luke Savill and Alex Ramsden beat Austria B 3-1 and Turley 3-0 to make it through to the last 16 to face Belarus. And although world No 45 Junior Jarvis won his two matches, including beating No 18 Aliaksandr Khanin, Belarus won 3-2 overall.

The Junior Girls’ squad of Tin-Tin Ho, Emily Bolton and Kate Cheer, and the Cadet Boys duo of Smith and Walsh, both won one of their group matches but that was not enough to advance.

Smith and Walsh were both eliminated in the group stage of the Cadet Boys Singles but advanced to opposite semi-finals in the consolation event. However, they could not set up an all-England final as both were eliminated.

In the doubles, they won their first-round match before being knocked out by the top seeds and eventual champions in the last 16.
