Vickers during her quarter-final win over Chloe Whyte

Last year’s Champion in the women’s under-21s, Hannah Hicks, will face Emma Vickers in the final as both progressed through their semi-finals confidently.

Vickers, who was unseeded, had to play a quarter-final as well against Chloe Whyte which ended up being a thrilling contest. It went right down to the fifth game with Vickers trailing 2-1 at one point before coming back to level in the fourth game with an 11-3 triumph.

In the decider Vickers again strode ahead before eventually sealing the match 3-2 (11-8, 10-12, 8-11, 11-3, 11-7).

Hannah Hicks faced Jessica Dawson in her semi-final after Dawson had beaten Natalie Slater in yet another epic five-game quarter-final.

Dawson had led 1-0 and 2-1 before Slater pulled level 11-6 in the fourth. The final game went even closer than the other quarter-final as the players went to deuce. In the end Dawson came out on top 13-11.

The semi-final between Dawson and Hicks was one-sided though as the top seed showed her strength. With excellent defensive control she came through in straight games 3-0 (11-5, 11-2, 11-4).

She will meet Vickers in the final after she beat number one junior Vicky Smith 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-6).
