Halton players had success over the two days of the Cheshire Junior and Senior Closed Championships with Under 13 Harry Watson winning three titles and narrowly losing the Under 18 Junior title.

Liam Beamish and George McDonnell also narrowly lost the Boys Doubles final; while the Junior Mixed Doubles was an all-Halton affair with Robyn Cosgrove combining with Sam Walsh to defeat Annis O’Connor and Harry Watson. Robyn Cosgrove then won the Under 15 Girls beating Nicole Scott from the Wirral who also trains at Halton. Nicole has just finished runner up in the National Under 11s Girls Championships and will be playing in the Euro Minis in France.

The Senior Closed saw new champions with Mal McEvoy having to withdraw due to illness during the day in the final stages of events and the change of date of Liverpool Closed having taken some of the Wirral players away.

Halton players still featured with an all Halton Grade B final won by Junior Liam Beamish beating Jordan Abbott. Robyn Cosgrove lost in the Women’s Doubles Final; Jordan Abbott lost in the Hard Bat final. Mal McEvoy conceded the Over 50 final; Phil Luxon lost Over 60 final and Mixed Doubles final.

The new Mens Champion was Shaun Hall Mid Cheshire League beating Joe Killoran ChesterĀ and they combined to win the Mens Doubles.
