After the success of the first three events in Liverpool, Crawley and Tipton, the 2016/17 Grand Prix circuit is now well under way. With the next event less than a month away, news and updates for the full series can be seen below.
Blackpool
The next Grand Prix heads to the North West coastline, with Blackpool Sports Centre the destination on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th November. The popular seaside resort will host the fourth main Grand Prix on this year’s circuit, marking the halfway stage. Entries are still open with a closing date of Sunday 6th November. Cardiff (Satellite)
The Cardiff Satellite Grand Prix, to be held on the weekend before Christmas, on 17th & 18th December, will be the first Satellite event of the 2016/17 series and last Grand Prix of the calendar year. Hosted at the Sport Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, this is the first time it’s been possible to enter this particular event online. Cleveland
The first Grand Prix event of 2017 will take place in Cleveland, replacing the South Shields Grand Prix that was run in 2014/15 and 2015/16. It will be played at the same location as their Junior 4* event, the Thornaby Pavilion, on the weekend of 14/15 January. The event will also include Junior Boys’ and Junior Girls’ categories, to be played on the Sunday afternoon, alongside the Under-21s’, Veterans’ and Doubles events. Nottingham
The final outstanding venue for the 2016/17 circuit has also been confirmed. Table Tennis England have secured a two-year deal with the new multi-million pound David Ross Sports Village at the University of Nottingham. This season’s event will take place on 25th & 26th March 2017. Table Tennis England are delighted to have secured this fantastic facility, guaranteeing more Grand Prix action at the popular University, with enhanced playing conditions and capacity for a larger entry.
