GOLD CHALLENGE INFORMATION FOR CLUBS

The Gold Challenge expects more than 100,000 participants to take part, raising over £20 million for charity and driving demand in grassroots sports.

An individual or group of people will chose 5 or more sports to complete to earn points and points lead to a certificate, prizes and money going to charity.

For table tennis the challenges are:

Undertaking 3-5 hours coached table tennis: 10 Points

Undertaking 6 hours or more coached table tennis: 20 Points

Competing in affiliated competitions: 20 Points

Other bonus points are available for completing other challenges in technique or learning the laws of the sport, details available here.

WHY SHOULD MY CLUB TAKE PART?

Gold Challenge participants will be required to pay for their coaching sessions, meaning revenue for your club, as well as the potential for growing your membership if the participants are keen to continue playing beyond their challenges.

It won’t just be individuals and small private groups taking part, many large corporate companies are promoting the scheme and encouraging their staff to get involved. The numbers of people looking to receive coaching could be significant.

WHAT WILL THE CLUB NEED TO OFFER PARTICIPANTS?

1)  A Licenced coach.

2)  Your club will ideally set aside a session to accommodate the participants (16+ age) and create a coaching plan that will last for the duration of the challenge. The coaching plan must be suitable for people that have not experienced table tennis before and show them what a great sport table tennis is!

3)  Alternatively a company may wish to hire your coach to deliver some sessions at their premises.
