WIll Bayley took home an individual bronze

Britain have won four medals so far at the 2011 British Para Table Tennis Open in Sheffield against a field of top para athletes.

In the Class 1 Men’s event, team GB took home both the gold and silver medals as Rob Davies and Paul Davies contested an all-GB final.

It was Rob who came out on top to claim the gold medal with a tight 11-8, 11-7, 14-12 victory over Paul. Paul’s consolation prize obviously being the silver medal.

In the Class 7 Men’s event, Paralympic hopeful Will Bayley came away with a bronze medal after he beat Maxym Nikolenko from the Ukraine 3-1.

Finally, in the Ladies Class 4 event, the experienced Sue Gilroy added another medal to her collection with a bronze play-off triumph over Valeria Zorzetto from Italy. In an epic encounter Sue had to fight back from two sets to one down to claim the medal. She won 11-9, 5-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-8 in that pulsating match.
