Tiana Dennison was a double winner at the Fusion Topspin 2* event.

The Essex teenager won both the Junior and Cadet Girls’ singles, both held on a round-robin format.

Dennison won all nine matches she played, beginning by seeing off Medha Verma, Sophie Chiang, Yassmine Al-Amire, Federica Bonata Tazartes and Demi Reid in the Cadet contest.

However, she was run close by both Verma and Tazartes, who both took her to five – Dennison beating Verma 11-5, 12-14, 6-11, 12-10, 12-10 and coming from two down to beat Tazartes 3-2 (11-13, 11-13, 11-8, 11-4, 11-3).

There were some familiar opponents in the Junior Girls’ event but again Dennison came out on top against Al-Amire, Verma, Tazartes and Reid without dropping a set.

The Junior Boys’ Singles was won by Lucas Papantoniou, who withstood a fine comeback by his opponent Dexter Sherin to win 3-2 (14-12, 11-7, 9-11, 6-11, 11-7). It was the second time Papantoniou hjad to dig deep, having come from 2-1 down in the semi-finals to beat Jack Merton 3-2 (11-5, 6-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-4). Sherin’s last-four clash saw him beat Quentin Kwan 3-0 (14-12, 11-5, 11-6).

Sherin had the consolation of winning the Cadet Boys’ Singles as he saw off Chamika Weerasinghe 3-0 in the final (11-2, 11-5, 11-8). His opponent had come from 2-1 down to defeat semi-final opponent Vitor Maquiori 3-2 (5-11, 11-9, 1-11, 11-9, 11-9), while Sherin beat Nathaniel Emmanuel in four.

The Under-13 Boys’ round-robin saw Felix Thomis win all four matches to take the title ahead of Robert Pelc, William McCarthy, Nathan Humphrey and Reuben Jarrett – Pelc and Jarrett taking him to four.

The Under-11 Boys’ event saw seven player competing in a round-robin format and it was Mahmood Kelani who came out on top with six wins out of six, only dropping one set to Felix Thomis. The other players were Lewis Stevens, Shem Lejarde, Shalom Lejarde, Oliver Maric-Murray and Alexander Kapkin.

The under-13 girls’ contest featured only two players, Federica Bonato Tazartes beating Sophie Chiang 3-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-4, 11-4).

Meanwhile, the Fusion Senior / Junior 2 Star Tournaments takes place on Saturday, with the Fusion Senior 2 star Torunament following on Sunday.

The junior competitions will comprise under 11, 13, 15 and 18 Boys and Girls’ singles. The senior events will comprise of men’s and women’s singles, banded events and veterans’ men’s and women’s singles.

There will be a prize fund for the senior ranking tournament and trophies for the junior ranking events.
