Friday Photos returns – for a short while. With our movements being restricted, my husband Harvey has been having a bit of a sort out of his table tennis memorabilia and came across these photos of an international match which he arranged on March 10, 1983 at Boundstone School, Lancing, West Sussex.

The match was arranged courtesy of the Headmaster, Mr Stephen Love, and Mike Chandler who ran the school table tennis club. The school was involved in several ways with the domestic science class making the cake and the German language teacher acting as interpreter. The match was sponsored by Val-U-Copy, whose Managing Director, Bob Pittard, was a top local player.

England had Skylet Andrew, Desmond Douglas, Joy Grundy and Karen Witt playing for them, with Peter Simpson as the Non-Playing Captain, whilst Germany had Georg-Zsolt Bohm, Peter Stellwag, Jurgen Rebel and Susanne Wenzel, with Istvan Korpa their NPC.

Scroll through to the end of the photos to see the final score.

* It seems Friday’s Photos are still looked at, only last week I had someone kindly send me through details of a photo which was shown in 2015, so it’s never too late to get in touch.

Perhaps, if you have some spare time on your hands and come across photos, programmes or any other memorabilia that Table Tennis England could add to their archives collection we would love to hear from you. I can be contacted on [email protected]

With thanks to Harvey for this selection of photographs.
