England send a 10 strong squad to the French Junior and Cadet Open in Metz that begins tomorrow.

Fresh from his first under-21’s Grand Prix victory at the Tees Sport Blackpool GP, Lewis Gray will represent his country once again in France. Gray, who beat Scotland’s Scott Barton 3-2 (9-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-0, 11-7) in the final last weekend will be joined by junior team-mates Sam Walker and Igor Morais.

Also attending for the boys are Sam Mabey and Helshan Weerasinghe in the cadet tournament. The latter, in particular, hoping to continue to make waves in European competition.

For the girls both Emily Bates and Vicky Smith, who represented England in Italy at the International Schools Federation World Schools’ Table Tennis Championships, will attend for the juniors and they will be joined by Yolanda King.

Possibly the best chance remains will young penholder Tin-Tin Ho who will again be joined in the cadet competition by Maria Tsaptsinos. Tin-Tin will be looking to continue her progress up the rankings as she hones in on a top five senior women’s spot in England.
