Paul Drinkhall put on one of his best ever performances to lift the Polish Open Under 21 singles title in Warsaw tonight.

The 20 year old was in tip top form throughout the two days of the competition and climaxed it with a sensational win in the final against top Chinese player Hongyuan Song.

Drinkhall seemed to struggle in his earlier round being taken to maximum games by two of his opponents. Nevertheless, he beat a tough opponent..Omar Assar. in the semi-final but with Song easing through his matches in majestic style, it was always going to be tough.

And it didn’t look good for our player when he lost his opening two games and went 3-1 down. But when the going gets tough, the tough get going and Drinkhall did just that.

In one of the most gripping and exciting comebacks seen for sometime, he drew level to make it 3-3 and then in a game that had most of the hall on its feet he took the title 7.11, 8.11, 11.9, 10.12, 11.5, 11.9, 13.11.
