The favourite seeds in the women’s doubles all got through to the last four as tomorrow looks like being an exciting day in the chase for the title as all the strongest players remain.
Joanna Parker and Kelly Sibley lead the charge with their second victory of the tournament, although they did lose a game to the plucky pair of Jessica Dawson and Chloe Whyte. As expected Parker and Sibley took the first game at a canter – a rather embarassing 11-1 for the top seeds. But, to their credit, Dawson and Whyte responded and took the second game 11-7.
Normality was resumed in the third game with Parker/Sibley taking it 11-4 and they duly sealed the match 11-6 in the fourth.
Playing them in the semi-final will be Emma Vickers and Karina Le Fevre. While both Vickers and Le Fevre have kept themselves in the singles tournament, they will fancy a pop at the favourites tomorrow morning in this big tie.
They reached this round by beating Karen Shepherd and Vicky Smith 3-0 (11-3, 11-7, 11-5).
In the other half of the draw Hannah Hicks and Tressa Armitage will meet Emily Bates and Lauren Spink to fight it out for a final place.
Hicks and Armitage beat Evangeline Collier and Isobel Ashley 3-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-7) while Bates and Spink beat Emma Torkington and Megan Knowles 3-1 (11-6, 11-5, 6-11, 11-2).
