After the unfortunate weather all weekend, the show still went ahead in the Sport Wales national Centre.

On Day 1 Angharad Phillips took control winning both band 1 & 2 (against Charlotte Carey and Kate Hughes respectively) to crown a great day. Ryan Owen, back in town after many years, played well to beat Dan O’Connell in the semi of band 2 before losing to Ryan Flood of Dublin 1-3 in the final. In band 1 Tomasz Rzeszotko, living in Wrexham, beat Scottish number 5 Craig Hardie 11-9 in the 5th to win the prize. Nicole Hall won her 2nd women’s Band 3 singles of the season, this time defeating Hannah Avery in the final.

On Day 2 Ryan Jenkins and Emma Vickers took the prizes in the men and women singles. Ryan beat English international Chris Doran in the semi final 3-0 and in the final he met Matt Ware. Matt beat Mike Marsden in a tight 5 set thriller to earn his spot. Ryan took control of the final winning 3-1. Emma beat 14 year old Charlotte Carey in a tense final in the women’s event 3-1.

The U21 singles titles went to Matt Ware and Emma Vickers of England. Emma beat Charlotte Carey (semi 3-2) and Angharad Phillips (final 3-0). Angharad had another 5 set battle with twin sister Megan in their semis. Matt Ware beat Will Gallagher (semi) and David McBeath (final). McBeath earned his spot by beat Craig Hardie in their encounter.

There were some great performances from Welsh players Alex Prosser, Conor Edwards, Ryan Owen, Clare Ford and Nicole Hall to add to the results above
