Day Seven – Good Day for the Cadets
Today saw a three of England’s cadets progress through to the last 32 of the European Youth Championships. Tin-Tin Ho always looked in control of her opponent Joanna Kiedrowska of Poland 4 – 1. Megan Knowles had an excellent 4 – 0 win against European number 23 Michaela Kerousova of Czech Republic 10, 5, 9, 2.
In the cadet boys Jared Patel found his best form beat Patrik Sukic of Slovenia ranked 19 in Europe in a tense seven set match.
The other two England players that are competing in the main event tomorrow are Sam Walker who beat Michal Pavolka of Slovakia 4 – 2 and Liam Pitchford who beat Siarhei Afansenka of Belarus 4 – 0. Both boys are now in the last 32.
In the Junior Mixed Doubles there was a good performance, Sam Walker and Karina Le Fevre took a hard fought 5 game match over Germany’s Marc Rode and Yuko Imamura to progress to the last 32 but there they were defeated by Stefan Leitgeb and Nicole Galitschitsch of Austria. None of the pairs progressed from the last 64 of the Cadet Mixed Doubles.
