England men will go through automatically to this year’s European Championships after their qualifying stage was cancelled because of the pandemic. However, the women’s team will have to wait to find out when they will play qualifying rounds.

The men’s position in section A of the qualifying groups, a result of reaching the quarter-finals at the last championships, means they will go straight through to the final tournament, scheduled to be held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in September.

The women’s team are in section B, and their scheduled qualifiers later this month have been postponed to a possible date in late May.

The intention is to have 24 men’s and 24 women’s teams at the final tournament in September.
