The three England players competing at the World Junior Championships in France have been knocked out of the Mixed Doubles.

Maria Tsaptsinos, playing alongside New Zealander Kelsey Amor, was first in action in La Roche-Sur-Yon, but the pair were defeated 3-0 by a Polish duo in the preliminary round.

Helshan Weerasinghe & Tin-Tin Ho were seeded straight into the main draw and won their first match 3-0 against a French line-up to move into the last 32.

However, they were beaten 3-2 by the 13th seeds from Korea and exited the competition.

The singles qualifying groups begin tomorrow (Thursday). Helshan faces Victor Ma (NZL), Nikita Yarushin (RUS) and Santiago Tolosa (ARG) in the boys’ singles. In the girls’ event, Maria is up against Leticia Nakada (BRA) and Grace Yang (USA), while Tin-Tin’s opponents are Amira Yousry (EGY) and Leonie Hartbrich (HUN).

Tin-Tin and Maria will be in the girls’ doubles on Friday.
